The European EGS project is to promote the key role of schools in the involvement of local actors (students, families, small businesses, local authorities, other schools) in the process of improving the energy efficiency of the community.

The project is supported by EACI (Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation) of the European Commission.

It involves already under submission 22 partners from ten European countries (schools, training institutions and technical consultants) including the Province of Mantua in collaboration with ACT scarl, Labter-Building Institute of Suzzara Manzoni who is the protagonist of this project.

The phases of the project will be developed as follows:

Definition of the state of energy efficiency in schools and collection of best practices;
Definition of a Manifesto of the schools for energy efficiency and membership of the partner schools;
Organization of courses for school staff and students;
Creation of 13 forum (1 per school), based on the methodology of local Agenda 21, for the involvement of key local stakeholders participated in a process for education on energy. The forums will be developed on 4 levels: curricula, teacher training, cooperation with the manufacturing (PMI), Governance for the involvement of families, local government and other stakeholders. Each forum concerter a plan of action, at least 3 levels of feasibility for the main actions and implement at least a pilot.
The added value of transnational cooperation will be given for the creation of action plans and continuous exchange of experiences.

The results are expected to have lead to the improvement of energy performance of schools that will join the Manifesto for energy efficiency and creating a network of national and international schools for their energy efficiency and sustainability of the community in which the reference.
